Found this photo just the other day and it brought back many memories. This photo was shot back in the summer of 1978 at Mercersburg Academy. I wrote a letter to an old friend about the times and here's an excerpt:
"I was 19 and never been anwhere. Landing in Haggerstown was very much landing on the moon for me. Then the long drive to Mercersburg--I had never been to a place so beautiful. That dining hall, what luxury and opulence! Clay courts? never seen one! Wow. I was wide-eyed all summer, and Mr. B took me under his wing. Charlie must have told him about my background---being a blue collar kid, never been off the farm. He took an odd joy in taking me out to resturants and showing me the world. Id never had dinner with cloth napkins! Id ask Mr. B about Wimbledon, about BJK, different players and hung on every word. I think FXB liked to tell the stories and I was the perfect set of ears."
I had a good summer, went back to school worked hard toward getting a degree. I changed majors and found a cute girlfriend named Jeanette and life was good that year, until the spring.

A great photo of a perfect volley - weight on your front foot, eyes on the ball, rackethead up, wrist stiff and left hand giving balance.
